  • Natural Language Query Systems

    Projects in this course develop query and information retrieval systems designed to answer queries from untrained users using natural language.  There will be projects for telephone query systems based on spoken queries.

     

  • Summarization

    We are inundated with too much information.  Projects in this course deal with extracting information and presenting it in a convenient condensed form.

     

  • Natural Language Data Mining

    This course deals with extracting data from large unstructured natural language data files.

     

  • Audio Data Mining

    This course deals with data mining of audio and audio/video files.

     

  • Topic Detection and Tracking

    This course deals with detecting the topic of a given body of text and tracking changes in topic in an on-going text stream.  The text stream may result from automatic transcription and/or translation of the original data stream.

     

  • Diarization

    This course deals processing large speech files into smaller more manageable blocks.  Diarization includes distinguishing intervals of silence from intervals of speech and detecting times at which the speaker identity changes.
