Speech Recognition Courses

  • Speech Recognition
    • Fundamentals of Speech Recognition

This course covers the basic principles used by leading speech recognition systems to the level covered in graduate course textbooks.

    • Signal Processing for Speech Recognition

This course will cover a selection of the many choices for signal processing in the first phase or "front end" of a speech recognition system.  Teams will comparing the performance of several alternative signal processing methods.  Teams will also implement some standard and some novel signal processing methods.

    • Design and Implementation of Speech Recognition Systems

This course teaches the essential practical details of advanced speech recognition systems.  It concentrates on techniques and issues that are usually left out of textbooks and often are not even mentioned in technical papers.

    • Extreme Speech Recognition Research

This research course will teach new ideas for improved speech recognition beyond published papers or any existing speech recognition system.  This course may be limited to faculty and mentors until a sufficient number of students have completed pre-requisite courses.

    • Speech Recognition for Faculty and Mentors

This is an advanced course open only to faculty members and mentors who have successfully mentored at least four teams.
