  • Fundamentals of Speech Synthesis

    Project teams will learn the fundamentals of speech synthesis using tools that are available in open source software.  Advanced projects may include development of speech synthesis in new languages.

     

  • Do-it-yourself Voice Building

    Build a synthesis voice model for each member of the team using tools such as Festival, Flite and Sphinx.

   

  • Do-it-yourself Speech Synthesis

    Students will work in teams to construct a speech synthesis system for the voice of each member of the team.

     

  • Topics in Speech Synthesis

    Special topics such as Signal Processing for Synthesis, Speech Mimic, Voice Transformation.

     

  • Testing Speech Synthesis Systems

    Techniques for testing the correctness of pronunciations, intelligibility, perceived quality, and user preferences of speech synthesis systems.

     

  • Speech Synthesis Research

    Experiment with new algorithms for speech synthesis.

     

  • Speech Synthesis for Faculty and Mentors

    This is an advanced course open only to faculty members and mentors who have successfully mentored at least four teams.
